Papers, c. 1818-c.1980, of Georgiana Huntly McCrae, George Gordon McCrae and Hugh Raymond McCrae. Including early records of the McCrae and Gordon families; descriptions of Victoria dating from the 1840s, found in reminiscences, diaries, art work, correspondence, music, scrapbooks, and albums which contain a wealth of information about early Melbourne and Victoria. Also includes copious correspondence to Hugh McCrae from literary figures; to Georgiana McCrae from early Melbourne identities and international artists; to George Gordon McCrae regarding the possible location of the Mahogany Ship, as well as material concerning the descendants and families of the three McCraes. Also published books belonging to the family. Includes a drawing (MC 8, DR 3) and a mounted illustration of Ethel Anderson (unsigned) (MC 8, DR 4). An oil sketch of the Swiss Alps, mounted, painted by Nicolas Chevalier, undated (MC 8, DR 5).
